STUDENT COUNCIL

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

 

1.      ETCS Student Council is a representation of the student body to act as a liaison between the students and staff to improve relationships with each other and the quality of ETCS.

  • Student Council will plan activities to bring more school spirit.
  • Student Council will decorate and help plan Homecoming.
  • Student Council will participate in and lead Adopt A Leader programs, chapels and other assemblies and activities as needed.
  • Student Council will conduct teacher appreciation activities as needed.
  • Student Council will meet and greet new students and help them with transition to ETCS.
  • Student Council will conduct other functions at the discretion of the Sponsor, Principal and Administrator.

2.      ETCS Student Council is appointed an advisor yearly to oversee meetings and provide guidance and direction in Student Council activities.

3.      The Student Council serves at a variety of functions during the year including Adopt-A-Leader programs, the ETCS Auction, and the spring Open House program.  They should wear maroon polo shirts at these activities.

4.      The student body will elect the officers as outlined below.

5.      Each class in grades 6-12th will elect Student Council representative (s)  as outlined below.  Any class that has more than 12 students enrolled will elect a second representative.  Representatives will be selected during the first week in September according to the steps outlined below in Student Council Representatives:   Procedures for nominations and elections.

5. Qualifications for representative and officers include that he/she

  • Puts Jesus Christ first
  • Prays boldly outwardly
  • Has a lifestyle that represents a good leader at ETCS
  • Is passing all subjects
  • Speaks well in public
  • Demonstrates responsibility and punctuality
  • Dresses neatly and clean
  • Obeys ETCS policies
  • Is willing to promote school and show school spirit
  • Will represent the school well in community events

6.  Responsibilities for representative and officers include that he/she

  • Is able to meet on the appointed day and knows that missing two meetings disqualifies him/her from serving
  • Must make a list of what he/she would like to see discussed and submit to the Advisor no later than noon on the day before a meeting
  • Must come to the meeting prepared to work and not play
  • Must maintain a passing average in all subjects
  • Must participate in all Student Council activities and fundraisers unless excused by the Advisor

7.  Responsibilities and qualifications of the President of Student Council include

  • Will provide the highest order of school leadership within the student body
  • Will preside over the council meetings with Advisor
  • Will meet with Advisor to set the agenda for the meeting
  • Will solicit opinions/desires from the student body in a Biblical way
  • Will open chapels with prayer and welcome

8.  Responsibilities and qualifications of the Vice President of the Student Council include

  • Will work with the president to uphold the duties and responsibilities of the Council
  • Will preside over the meetings if the president is unable to attend
  • Will work with the Council and Advisor to fulfill obligations to the school
  • Will provide leadership and support to the student body

9.  Responsibilities and qualifications of the Secretary of the Student Council include

  • Will work with the other members of the Council and Advisor to provide leadership for the student body
  • Will be responsible for maintaining a log of all Council meetings and decisions made in the Council
  • Will be an active and viable member of the Council team

10.  Responsibilities and qualifications for the Reporter of the Student Council include

  • Will work with the other members of the Council and the Advisor to provide leadership to the student body
  • Will be responsible for reporting events and results of events to the journalism department
  • Will be an active and viable member of the Council team
